Terms and Conditions
These terms apply to anyone using the Deck Builders Lewiston website to read about decks or to send an estimate request from around Lewiston and Auburn. Deck work we take on runs under its own signed contract, and nothing in these terms changes that contract.
The deck prices on this site are averages for planning, not quotes, and asking for an estimate is free and binds no one. Maine law puts home construction work over $3,000 on a written contract signed by both sides and caps the first payment at one third of the price.
Effective October 23, 2026. Last updated October 23, 2026.
By using this website, you agree to these terms. A deck we build for you is governed by its own signed contract, which these terms leave untouched.
Who We Are
Deck Builders Lewiston builds, replaces and repairs decks and deck railings in the Lewiston-Auburn area, from an office in Lewiston, Maine. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Deck Builders Lewiston, and "you" means anyone using the site.
Who May Use This Site
You must be 18 or older to use this website. By using it, you confirm that you are.
Acceptable Use
Use the site to read about decks and to tell us about your yard, your house and the deck you want. Send only accurate details and your own contact information, and do not try to break, overload or misuse the site.
Prices Shown on This Site
The deck prices printed here, the per-square-foot averages and the project floors for pressure-treated wood and for composite or PVC, are averages drawn from many quotes. They are there to help you test a budget, and none of them is an offer or a quote for your deck.
What your own deck costs depends on your yard and your house: a ramp, the stairs, whether usable footings already exist, how complex the layout is and how high the deck sits. Deck repairs and deck railings carry no published price, because we price them only after we have seen them.
Free Estimates
An estimate request costs you nothing and commits neither of us to anything. An estimate becomes binding only when it is written into a contract that we both sign.
We may decline a request, for example from outside the towns we serve or for work outside our trade, such as a porch with a roof and walls, a sunroom, a patio, a pool or siding.
Written Contracts and Down Payments
Under 10 MRSA ยง1487, a home construction contract for more than $3,000 in materials or labor has to be in writing and signed by you and by us. Each of us gets a copy before work begins, and the first down payment can be no more than one third of the total contract price.
Your deck's scope, materials, price and payment schedule come from that signed contract, not from this website. The same law requires a written change order for any change to the contract price, and that is how a soft joist or a rotted ledger found under old boards gets added to a repair.
No Warranty From This Website
No page on this website is a warranty or a guarantee of any kind. The warranty terms for your deck come only from your signed contract and from the product maker's own published warranty.
Trademarks
Decking, railing and hardware names that appear on our pages, such as TimberTech, AZEK, Trex, Deckorators and Westbury, are trademarks of their respective owners. We use those products as an independent deck builder: none of their makers is affiliated with us, and none has endorsed or authorized our work.
Contractor Licensing in Maine
Maine does not license general contractors or deck builders, so we hold no state contractor license to show you. On a job over $3,000, the state's protection is the written contract it requires both sides to sign.
Permits and Town Review
Each town decides whether a deck needs a building permit and whether to issue one. A lot near a lake, pond or river can also sit inside the town's shoreland zone, which brings its own review under Maine's shoreland zoning program.
We file the application where one is needed, but approval belongs to the town alone, so we never promise it.
Timing and Schedules
Maine's contract law has the contract state an estimated start date and an estimated date when the work will be substantially complete. Under the same law those dates can shift for reasons beyond the contractor's control, a yard that is not ready for the crew or decking that cannot be had, for example.
Frozen ground, a wet spring, a permit review or whatever turns up under an old deck can shift a deck schedule as well. No page here commits us to a date for starting or finishing your deck.
General Information Only
What this site says about decking materials, footings, ledgers, guards, stairs, town rules and prices is general information. It is not engineering or legal advice, and it cannot replace someone looking at your yard and the wall your deck meets.
Code questions about a particular lot belong with that town's code officer, who has the final word on them.

- Rates and frequency: message and data rates may apply, and the number of texts depends on the project.
- Stopping and help: reply STOP to end our texts or HELP to get help; after a STOP, a single text confirms it.

To the fullest extent Maine law allows, Deck Builders Lewiston is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of this website or from relying on its general information. Work done under a signed contract is covered by that contract, not by this limit.
